Symphony 0

For 24 hours, one chord on an acoustic guitar. After each strum, the sound is allowed to decay until it is no longer audible. Then it is strummed again. Certain unpredictable variables come very slowly into play: the construction of the guitar, the age of the strings, the humidity and temperature of the room, the dynamics of the strums. The strums punctuate time in the space. Conversations, silences, passing buses, eating, drinking, and sleeping are measured by the slow tolling of the guitar. The gallery was open to visitors throughout the 24-hour period.
